Hey folks,
Last Spring I changed my thermostat to one of the wireless models that the hydro company can dial into and lower the setting on those hot days during peak hours. I can honestly say I had my A/C on for only 3 hours total for the entire season (you gotta loves trees around the house), so its not crucial for me to have.
Its hard to compare exactly, but the new thermostat behaves differently than the last one I had hooked up, as it seems to cycle more often. Its almost as if it comes on every 10 mins and stays on as long as it needs to raise the temperature to the set temp. This can range from a few mins to several more, obviously depending on the outside temperature.
The new thermostat does have an electric/gas/oil setting, and I have it set to oil since that is my source. (actually, I had to ask the installer how to do it, as it was not documented in the instructions).
My question is; are there thermostats out there that are better for oil furnaces?
I believe the electric/gas/oil setting adjusts the swing setting, but are the swing variances standard from one thermostat to another?
thanks in advance,
phreaq
