Hi im leftyfz1 from pittsburgh pa. I have a 1940s house with a leak in basement wall. I had the foundation dug out to the footer i want to put a french drain in but i have to put in a sump pump on the outside of house. Is there anyone who has done this?

Welcome Lefty fz1:
Sump pumps are seldom used outside because of freezing. However, you could install the sump pump below your footer and extend the opening to the top of the ground with a low cost culvert pipe and cap it to prevent freezing. Your drain line will have to be kept under the ground also to keep from freezing (approx. 4' for your area).
Do you have an acceptable place to drain the sump pump?
